After finally finishing my book I decided it would be nice to let some of the people in it be the first to know about it. More than a few years have gone by since my camera captured them live on stage. A little research was certainly in order. Looking for the whereabouts of Paul Davis I was sad to find out that he is no longer with us.
"Paul Davis who played in Bonnie Hayes and The Wild Combo and The Yanks went into a coma after complications with his elbow caused by Carpal Tunnel and he was pronounced dead on Sunday Morning Nov 10, 2007" - Ginger Coyote - Punk Globe Magazine.

Paul Davis, the gifted guitarist was my teacher in San Francisco in 1986. He was inspiring, technically proficient, melodic and beyond words as far as talent is concerned. Funny, ascerbic, charismatic, strong. He treated me like a "real guitar player" instead of just some chick. He and Neal Schon gave me the identical respect I would have hoped for, but never expected, after coming to the Bay Area from Los Angeles. RIP, Paul. We will NEVER FORGET YOU.
Paul Davis was my guitar teacher in San Francisco in 1986. He was gifted, melodic, strong, and an indescribably talented force in music. He treated me like a "real" guitar player, the same as Neal Schon did, and not just as "some chick," when I moved up from Los Angeles. We will NEVER FORGET PAUL DAVIS!!
Paul was also my guitar teacher from 1986 to 1988. It is impossible to overstate the influence he had on me as a musician and as a person. I loved him and always admired his devotion to music and guitar playing. An incredibly talented guitar player that never really got his due. So sad to hear he passed so young and so long ago. I'll always remember the good times we had and the licks he taught me. Whenever I play guitar I always think to myself if Paul would approve. Sorry we never had a chance to meet again. I hope I do you proud before my time is up. Upon hearing of your passing I'm more determined than ever to carry on your legacy through my playing and when people ask me how I learned to play guitar, I will always tell them proudly; "Paul Davis taught me." RIP Paul. You'll always be a source of inspiration to me. I'll never forget you.
Oh, geez. And now, seven years after his death I have heard it for the first time. I, too, went looking for info about what happened to the great guitarist, and sad to hear the news.
In the days I used to see him with the Wild Combo, he played a Mk. IIA Boogie amp, and had a very forward, icy sound. Unique. Played great psrts.
A fantastic musician who had a big effect on me. RIP, Brother Paul Davis, and thank you. Frank Goodman
