Ahhh - change. Change is good, right? Sometimes. I took a ride to Barnes and Noble today in search of a book I need (or maybe just want). As I approached the door I saw a sign saying "Store Closing. 50% off." No!!!!
Yes. About forty perecent of the shelves were empty. Depressing! I always loved going to this particular Barnes and Noble and browsing for hours. Now all that will be left is memories.
On the bright side, I discovered a really cool book way in the back. As I passed the music section my radar alerted me to a photography book by Judy Linn. I know that name. Any die-hard Patti Smith fan is familiar with a few of Judy Linn's Patti Smith photos from the early days. I think a few were published in Patti's book "Babel" along with Patti's polaroids and a Robert Mapplethorpe. Well, I don't really remember if any of Robert Mapplethorpe's images were published in Babel, but I know there were pictures of him in the book. Back to Judy Linn, she took the photograph of Patti Smith on the cover of Radio Ethiopia.
I flipped through the book. Ok, I looked at every single photograph. If you like B&W photography or Patti Smith, you may want to check the book out. It's called Patti Smith 1969-1976.
